Foxes Taster Break Residential, Foxes Hotel, Minehead
In March, students from Wyvern 6th form visited Foxes Hotel, a training hotel for students with learning difficulties. The taster break gave students the opportunity to experience hotel and hospitality work with a view to finding out whether they would like to consider it as a future career. They took part in a variety of work-related
tasks, including cleaning and tidying rooms to guest standard, preparing food in the hotel kitchen under the guidance of the chef, and being taught how to lay tables for guests.
The Foxes Staff were impressed at how quickly our students picked up skills taught and the housekeeping team awarded our students 9/10 for the standard of work and 10/10 for their teamwork.
On the first night, after ordering and eating a three-course meal, students relaxed firstly in the hotel lounge and later with their friends in their rooms. The second night was more lively, with students socialising with Foxes learners over dinner. Later, Nick scouted out a local old-fashioned skittles alley and students had fun playing skittles.
The students were excellent ambassadors for the school and we were proud of what they achieved.
