We are very pleased to announce that Alexander Barton was declared the winner of the Turner Contemporary Portfolio competition, beating over 300 entries in the special school category with his picture Roar!
Jen and Aga took him, Connor and Haydn (who were both shortlisted) to deliver his picture to the gallery. It will be on public display there from 14th June to 2nd September 2018, please make time to go and see it!
It will be part of the new exhibition there called “Animals and Us” and will be displayed in the Clore Learning Studio.
Lots of other exciting projects are now underway too:
- The Primary Shakespeare Company are now in school every Friday rehearsing for our production of “The Winter’s Tale” which will be performed on the 8th June 2018, more details to follow. This exciting project is expanding daily, and now includes students from across the school, including those from Flamingo, Astra, Giraffe, Panda and Leopard classes as well as FE.
- Oily Cart are returning to Ashford once again, to put on performances for our Flamingo and Astra students of their award winning show Kubla Khan. This will be in July.
- Phoenix class are in rehearsal to take part in the Shakespeare for Schools festival later this year.
- And finally we have been invited to take part in the Ashford Family Create festival. Our Key Stage Three students are very excited to be involved in this; more information to follow!
All of these projects are happening with our core aims of meaningful engagement, celebration of success and improving outcomes for students at their heart, as well as creating special memories for our pupils and their families. There is lots more to come!
