J4A and J4B Trip to Aylesford Rugby Club
On Thursday 8th June, J4A and J4B were one of the lucky few special school classes to be invited to Aylesford Rugby Club for the day. Along with Headmaster John and Head of PE Ellie, there was a great deal of excitement inside the minibuses as they made their way to the ground! The children were invited to play as soon as they stepped on to the pitch: it had been divided into sections, each containing a different rugby activity and working on a skill they’d need for a game. The children enjoyed the fun element of each, but were pleased when lunch time arrived, as they could finally stop for a well-deserved break. Once they had replenished their energy reserves the children were entered into competitive tag rugby games against other schools, the teachers were more nervous than the children. It was a magnificent site as the two classes worked together to score points, no-one getting upset if the other side scored, just even more determined to score themselves. The first game was a win for Wyvern, unfortunately they were pipped at the post in the second game, but again their spirit shone through and they took it in their stride. Everyone who went had a fantastic time and it was great to see not only the children enjoying a sport and being outside, but co-operating and working together. Well done to both classes!!
